Giving Back to the 'Aina (land)
My friend Brandon and I had an awesome time out at He'eia on the windward side to help out at the bi-monthly Māhuahua ‘Ai o Hoi project. The project aims "to restore Heʻeia Wetland into naturally productive kalo (taro) fields and other agricultural production for economic sustainability, education, biological resiliency
and cultural purposes."
Aerial shot of He'eia (stolen from facebook)
Kalo plants (taro)
We spent the morning pulling weeds and cleaning up the lo'i (irrigated taro terrace). We got to get down and dirty in the mud (fyi, don't jump in the mud with your slippers or you'll get stuck...noob)
We all went liiko'i picking after...
And of course, gotta eat!
Fresh Catch, soo 'Ono!
Fresh oysters on the grill!
Great people, 'Ono food, Big hearts...blessed to live Hawai'i
If you like help out, check out da facebook page for mo info! Shoots den \m/

In the words of Sir Mix Alot...
"I like 'big BUTS' and I cannot lie, you other brothers (and sisters) can't deny... "
People give excuses ALL THE TIME. "I want to go to church...BUT..." "I want to pray...BUT" Sin has made us 'professional excuse makers.' However, these excuses often become an obstacle to God's work in our lives. When we entrust our lives to Christ, a process of restoration and transformation begins in our lives. Let's not let our BIG BUTS get in the way of the blessings God has in stored for us, both here and in eternity.
"...discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness; for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come" (1 Tim. 4.7-8)
This video was shown at church yesterday.
